Steering Committee meeting – Outline: 5/14/2009

In Attendance: Rod Doran, Carol Mullen, Catherine Sodota, Marion Munoz, Pat Loncto, Jeff Arnold

Greetings: Welcome – Steering Committee Pilot Year / Vision
Old Business: Approve minutes from last steering committee meeting (on Blog) Catherine and Carol accept minutes
• TLQP New Application completed – June 5, 2009
• Original time log and journals –kept by Jeff / Pay at the end of January and June
Time Log / Goals
• Complete time logs
• Goals Update: Set and type clear goals —with assessment criteria – Post samples goals on-line – one hour paid. Email to Jeff in word document.

• Carol Mullen reported on National Math Conference in Washington. Consider if want to do Challenge Problem on Visual Logic during summer program on Wed 7/8
• Review Summer Program Agenda
o Delores review: Facilitator Carol Mullen, Recorder Catherine Sodota. Catherine Sodota review will be by volunteer during program.
o Sign up sheet for afternoon
o On first day tell how Pat is being used and for what purpose, she will not be available for Coaching on Peer Review days, Pat will explain what her workshop on Tuesday is about. (10:00)
o On first day introduce Marion as Mentor.
o Look at Product Menu next meeting to be used during Goal Setting Day 1 of Program.
o Old and New Make and take Centers with feature: Mystery Conducting Cards. Might want to put an online version of this. Encourage someone help with making session. Explore how to have this session be more curriculum and assessment focused. Encourage people to create sketch around a make and take. Next meeting create an options for extending the Make and Take IE sketch, LE outline.
o Catherine volunteers to do ice breaker session on day one. Will ask people for favorite ice breaker to get a collection of ideas. Rod suggested one from white book (BSES) on scientific inquiry to be used on July 14.
o Change Fri picnic to say Pot Luck Picnic. Catherine will check on location for picnic.
o July 7 will be intro to Peer Review process in more depth than in the past.
o Jeff send Pat a calendar to grey out the times not available.
o Ask Jenn Conklin to come to Catherine’s review. Catherine may invite guests.
o Announcement: N.E.T.T. at NCCC August 26.
o 7/16 GESA focus: Catherine and Connie will take care of this.
o If funded Catherine would like to look into more technology savvy way to do GESA jeopardy.
o Melanie Differentiation on 7/16
o Everyone must report out, presentation optional on Friday 7/17. Reporting out is gateway into next week by explaining clear goals for the third week.
o Gil will help with cooking on 7/17
o Book club selection discussion for following year 7/17

-STANYS Mini-Conference –March 25 @ 3:30 am-7:00 pm (W. Seneca West) – report by Catherine, call for presenting an LE at Rochester conference and then for our local mini-conference. STANYS would like more members/attendees, can we help?

• Teaching to the Standards: next step Graduate Level Course – web-based design focus
• Course Registration / Mini-Grant Update all 4 TLQP participants received A.
• Daemen College TLQP Reunion / Dinner / Program / May 13 cooperating teachers and TLQP members, hopefully next year a teacher and student awards.
• Retention Survey (On-line) starting next year need data and information on people for all years in the program and for 5 years after to see if teachers are staying in program as a result of the support of the program.
• Supplies credit update* – begin wish list thinking
NOTE: add to TAP agenda Carol Mullen report on National Math Conference, Catherine will announce need for ice breaker day 1 of summer program as group dynamics focus or learning focused. After Catherine will type up ideas.
5:30 – 6:30 Peer Review: Vivian Newman – Celebrating Diversity – hope to encourage her to edit LE as a model for Teaching to Standards Class by following the class outline for all the details.

*A $35 supplies credit will be recorded for each TAP member attending the meeting. Only teachers/administrators currently teaching in a Buffalo School are eligible to redeem the credits. To redeem credits you must attend our summer project and complete the Goal/Action plan/ Needs Assessment package. The terms and conditions of supplies credit are subject to change after review by our steering committee.
